Police have charged a man who escaped from jail with 36 offences in relation to multiple incidents that occurred throughout the region over the last 11 days.
Chad Clarke escaped from the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility on September 23.
Around 2:00 a.m. Monday officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle being driven by the fugitive in the area of Bayers Road and Ashburn Avenue in Halifax.
Police say Clarke did not stop and officers located the vehicle on Frederick Avenue.
Soon after, they arrested Clarke and a woman who was with him.
Investigators believe Clarke is responsible for multiple thefts and break and enters throughout the region over the last few weeks.
He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court to face the following charges:
- Escape lawful custody
- Break and enter (x9)
- Possession of break-in instruments (x8)
- Theft under $5,000 (x4)
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (x4)
- Mischief (property damage) (x3)
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Flight from police
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Mail theft
- Attempted mail theft
- Fail to attend court
