Thousands of HRM residents received help over the holiday season thanks to donations from the The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign that exceeded its fundraising goal.
Every year, kettles are set up in public areas throughout the municipality to help raise money to support those in need.
In a news release, The Salvation Army says this year, more than $406,000 was raised between mid-November to December 24.
Major Pam Goodyear, division secretary for public relations with the non-profit says, rising cost of living continues to put more demand on their services.
“These donations ensure we can provide hope and practical help to neighbours struggling, not just at Christmas but all year long,” says Goodyear.
During the 2025 holiday season:
- 4,000+ children received Christmas gifts/gift cards
- 2,400+ households in HRM were served
- 7,800+ individuals assisted in total
“Haligonians have big hearts,” says Goodyear. “Year after year, we turn to them for support, and they consistently step forward and deliver. We are deeply grateful.”
