An Amherst man faces multiple charges, including dangerous driving, following a car crash that killed three people, including a baby, in 2023.
Nova Scotia RCMP laid the charges on May 10, with the assistance of collision analysis services, according to a news release.
A 25-year-old Amherst man faces multiple charges:
- three counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death
- two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm
- three counts of criminal negligence causing death
- two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm
RCMP responded to the crash at about 10 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2023, according to a news release from October 2023.
Police say a car and an SUV were driving on Highway 2 in Fort Lawrence when they collided. Police found the SUV on its side and the car in the road, the release says.
Four people were in the SUV when it was hit. A 26-year-old man, a 43-year-old woman and a 2-month-old infant died at the scene.
A 21-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, police say.
There were two people in the car, a 19-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man.
The woman suffered serious injuries and the man suffered minor injuries. Police say both were taken to a hospital.
Strong is set to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on August 12.
