A couple of community facilities in Lower Sackville are getting upgrades.
The province says they are providing grants to protect the history of the area and support organizations that have served the community for a long time.
Fultz House Museum, which has more than 200 years of history, will get nearly $14,000 for roof repairs and other work.
In a news release, the president of the museum, Joanne Boudreau says the funding will allow them to put a ”historically accurate” roof on the facility.
” A new roof is needed to protect our archives, artifacts, documents, photos and videos in our collections, which help tell the history and stories of the people and places of Beaver Bank, Kinsac, Lucasville and Sackville. By maintaining Fultz House Museum, we can keep it open so the public can visit, learn and explore our heritage.”
Meanwhile, the Sackville N.S. Lions Club will get over $44, 500 for roof repairs and new heat pumps.
Director of the Lions Club, John Campbell says the funding is going to make a big difference in their operations.
“Our building is getting old, and we need these repairs. We are installing heat pumps to cut back on oil, and we will shingle the roof. Right now, we have pots catching the water.”
More community grants will be announced across Nova Scotia in the coming weeks.
