CFIB hopes provincial budget is kind to small businesses

An association representing small businesses is hoping the provincial budget is kind to them.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business says labour shortages are costing small businesses over one billion dollars in lost opportunities.

Senior policy advisor Duncan Robertson says they don’t want to be left behind.

“We want to see a sign that government wants to partner with small businesses as they recover, grow and prosper. We’re not asking for a lot, we think our recommendations are doable,” said Robertson.

He hopes the government will reduce the small business tax rate to two percent and increase the income threshold to $700,000.

Robertson would also like to see a plan to roll out the consumer incentive portion of the Nova Scotia Loyal program.

They also want to see Nova Scotia Power be mandated to roll out a forecast of electricity rates to the year 2030.
