UPDATE: Rain, wind warnings in effect for southwestern N.S.

It’s going to be warm, wet and windy.

A mid-week system is approaching Nova Scotia, and could drop lots of rain on the mainland.

Rainfall and wind warnings are in effect for Yarmouth, Shelburne and Digby counties, while most of the mainland remains under a special weather statement.

Environment Canada meteorologist Ian Hubbard says the southwestern part of the province will start to see the rain by late-day Wednesday.

“Shelburne, Yarmouth and Digby counties will see the highest rainfall amounts, up to 60 millimetres. Many areas will get at least 30 millimetres with this system,” said Hubbard.

Wind gusts up to 90 kilometres an hour could happen in southwestern N.S.

Temperatures will be in double-digits, but things will quickly turn cold by Thursday afternoon.
