Sandy Lake Beach closed as a result of flooding

Sandy Lake Beach in Bedford is closed following the weekend’s flooding.

A Halifax Water wastewater pumping station nearby is overflowing and contaminating the lake. Bacteria testing has indicated that the lake is unsafe for swimming in accordance with Health Canada swimming guidelines.

The beach will be closed until further notice.
