Today is Superman’s 85th anniversary. It was on this day in 1938 Action Comics #1 was released and unleashed the first superhero to popular culture. Over the years the Man of Steel has become a symbol of hope around the world, inspiring millions.
Sometimes I get accused of being too geeky, but I thought today I would just go full geek. Superman is here to show us what we all have the potential to become, minus the flying and x-ray vision. His mission to make his adopted planet a better place by helping those in need is a valuable lesson for us all.
I wanted to share some select moments of Superman through the years, including a comic book story that always leaves me in tears.
This moment from the comic book ‘Superman: Grounded’ is to me the core of the character. If any movie or show could hit this note of the character, it would be amazing. (Warning, this does deal with some sensitive topics like suicide, use discretion)
