Tareq Hadhad is a Syrian refugee who lives in Nova Scotia. His family had to leave Syria during the country’s civil war. Before this, Tareq’s father, Essam Hadhad, made chocolate in Damascus, Syria for over 20 years. Their facilities in Syria were bombed, and Tareq and his family left their home and lived as refugees in Lebanon for three years until arriving in Canada in 2016 W After immigrating to Nova Scotia in 2016, they reopened the family’s chocolatier business. There’s even a movie based on their life.
Peace By Chocolate has been around since 2016 and they’ve helped and donated to many causes. after Hurricane Fiona, they’re helping again.
