A sealed “Back to the Future” VHS tape just sold for $75,000. But it wasn’t just any ol’ unopened VHS tape, this one belonged to Tom Wilson. . . you know, Biff!!!
This set a record for the highest price ever paid at an auction for a sealed VHS tape.
The winner didn’t just get the VHS, it also came with a signed note from Tom. It read, quote, “This is a first release of ‘Back to the Future’, sent to me by the studio at that time. Since I knew that the VHS platform would be around forever, I saved it for later and now I can’t find a VCR. Oh well. Enjoy!”
The tape was part of a first-of-its-kind VHS-only auction. 260 tapes were sold including a copy of “The Goonies” for $50,000 and “Jaws” for $32,500.
