Soon, there will be a black box on Earth recording various things about us. It will collect two types of data, the first are reading of the planet, like land and sea temperatures, species extinction, population, and more. The other recording are what are called “contextual data”. That would include things like newspaper headlines, social media posts, and things of that nature.
The indestructible box is going to be built on remote land in Tasmania, it will run on solar-power, be filled with storage drives that have access to the internet. Batteries are included to provide back-up power. It is designed to hold half a century worth of data, and is about the size of a bus.
What data do you think should be put in this permeant record?
