You might want to store some water if you live on Spring Garden Road.
Water service will be temporarily shutdown on Spring Garden Road, between Birmingham Street and Queen Street, from 7:00 PM Thursday September 16 to approximately 6:00 AM on Friday September 17.
It’s being shutdown as part of the work happening on the streetscape project.
Halifax Water suggests filling up containers for drinking and cooking while this is going on. As a precautionary measure, the utility is asking people to turn off their hot water tanks during this time to prevent damage to heating elements should the water be drained from the tank.
If you have a sprinkler system, please inform your system monitoring company as the service interruption may cause the sprinkler panel to go into alarm.
Customers in the area may experience discoloured water following this repair.
The city is in the midst of $10 million project to widen the streets, plant trees/flowers and add benches and bike rakes.
It should be finished in Novemeber.
