The province’s top doctor says our current supply of rapid tests is just over one million.
Dr. Robert Strang says supply chain issues are creating challenges, and we need to use the tests more efficiently.
He says over 800 thousand rapid tests are used weekly in Nova Scotia.
“This will increase even more when tests are distributed to schools, and we’re able to make more tests available to the community. Our supply is very precarious,” says Strang.
He says another 3.6 million tests are expected to be delivered by the federal government this month, but there’s no timeline on their arrival.
Strang says rapid tests were once readily available, but now you need to go online and do a self-assessment to determine what kind of test you need.
