You’ll see a media blitz in the next few days, as Halifax launches a new campaign to put a stop to illegal dumping and littering in the city.
The new Illegal Dumping and Anti-Litter campaign’s tagline is “Be responsible for your waste.”
It has three phases.
The first is to raise awareness about options to dispose of different kinds of waste.
The second is to educate on the social and environmental harms illegal dumping and littering have.
The third is an enforcement campaign. Penalties range from $500-$10,000 for illegal dumping and $200-$10,000 for litter violations.
Municipal officials are encouraging you to report any illegal dumping or litter you see.
The campaign kicks off Wednesday.
