In 1995 Alanis Morisette had the biggest album with Jagged Little Pill. An album about heartbreak, betrayal and finding yourself after a breakup. Fast forward to 2021 and Olivia Rodrigo has the biggest album of the year with Sour. An album much like JLP full of hard life lessons learned. It only makes sense these two would come together for Rolling Stone’s Musicians on Musicians issue. Olivia was only born in 2003 but when she was 13 (which was 5 years ago) she discovered Jagged Little Pill and like it did 21 years earlier, it spoke to her. She said; I remember being like, ‘I can’t believe she’s saying all of this stuff.’ Stuff that is so, so vulnerable and intimate.”
.@Olivia_Rodrigo couldn't wait to talk to @Alanis Morissette whose songs changed her life at 13: "I remember being like, 'I can’t believe she’s saying all of this stuff.' Stuff that is so, so vulnerable and intimate."https://t.co/cw4UGwQ60W pic.twitter.com/9V3eVl7GeS
