A snag in the repair process is delaying the return of one of Halifax’s ferries.
That means, until further notice, the Alderney Ferry will continue running every half an hour, according to a news release from Halifax Transit.
The Vincent Coleman ferry went out of service in January because of an issue with the steering system. It was supposed to return to service at the end of March, but it needed more work.
The city says they ordered special replacement parts, which took some time to arrive, but once they had them, they had more technical difficulties and needed more parts, which compounded the delay.’
“Halifax Transit continues to work closely with the international supplier to secure the necessary parts, and the Vincent Coleman ferry will return to service once the required repairs have been completed,” wrote Halifax Transit in the news release.
The Criag Blake ferry is one of the city’s five. It is going through scheduled inspections, as well as a major repair, they say, so it will not be available until later this year.
