A woman was issued a summary offence ticket after leaving a dog in a parked vehicle in Dartmouth during frigid conditions.
Police say it was January 28 around 8 p.m. when police were called to the 100 block of Tacoma Drive for the animal believed to be in distress.
The temperature at the time was -10 degrees.
The officer found the 26-year-old woman nearby, who was fined $410.00.
Police remind that if you see an animal in distress, call 902-490-5020 and take direction from the call taker.
Some tips:
- Never leave your pet in a cold car. It can hold in the cold just like a refrigerator.
- Keep your pets indoors during the day and night. Cold temperatures can still harm your pets even though they have fur.
- Stay with your pets when taking them outside. if it’s too cold for you, it is too cold for them.
