Halifax Regional Police are investigating a fraud involving counterfeit currency at a Marshalls store in Dartmouth.
Officers responded to the location on Countryview Drive around 10:20 a.m. on January 10 after staff reported an employee was accepting fake bills.
Police say items purchased with counterfeit money were then returned to other Marshalls and Winners locations for legitimate cash refunds.
Officers arrested the suspect on scene without incident.
A 17-year-old youth is facing charges of fraud under $5,000 and three counts related to buying or possessing counterfeit money. The accused is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial youth court at a later date.
The investigation remains ongoing.
