Workers at another long term care home have voted to strike.
Employees at Seaview Manor Home for Special Care in Glace Bay voted 96 per cent in favour of hitting the picket lines.
This follows a slew of strike votes from workers at 18 other facilities across the province.
President of the local CUPE 2094 Allen Keeping says they are frustrated with this round of bargaining, according to a news release.
“We all heard Houston’s promises on the campaign trail, how he swore to fix health care and make life better for Nova Scotians, and yet his government offered us next to nothing. It’s like
they think senior care doesn’t matter, that we don’t matter,” wrote Keeping.
Meanwhile, long term care workers in Sydney will hold an information picket Friday afternoon to draw attention to the issues they face and ask for support from the public. It will be at the Mayflower Mall in Sydney from 2 to 4 p.m.
