The Giller Prize will be awarded to one of five books on Monday night.
It is the largest prize recognizing excellence in Canadian fiction, with the winner taking home $25,000 dollars, according to the award’s website.
The five finalists were chosen from a the longlist of 14 books announced in September.
Here is the shortlist of books that could win the prize:
- We Love You, Bunny – Mona Awad
- The Tiger and the Cosmonaut – Eddy Boudel Tan
- The Paris Express – Emma Donoghue
- The Life Cycle of the Common Octopus – Emma Knight
- Pick a Colour – Souvankham Thammavongsa
The longlist includes the shortlist, as well as others that were nominated but did not make it to the final round, like:
- Other Worlds – Andre Alexis
- An Astonishment of Stars – Kirti Bhadresa
- Sugaring Off — Fanny Britt, translated by Susan Ouriou
- Still – Joanna Cockerline
- The Sideways Life of Denny Voss – Holly Kennedy
- Wild Life – Amanda Leduc
- We, The Kindling – Otoniya J. Okot Bitek
- The Road Between Us – Bindu Suresh
- You’ve Changed – Ian Williams
Canadian comedian Rick Mercer will host the award show Monday night, where they will announce the winner.
