A survey of voters just before election day indicates the Progressive Conservatives could win by a landslide in Tuesday’s provincial election.
One of the final public opinion polls before election day by Abacus Data shows 48 per cent of committed voters favour the PC’s, while 28 per cent planned to vote for the NDP and 22 per cent for the Liberals.
PC Leader Tim Houston is seeking his second majority and if those numbers hold true, his party could end up gaining seats and in a supermajority.
To achieve that status, the Progressive Conservatives would need to win at least 37 out of 55 available seats. Houston had 34 seats when he called the election after two Liberal MLA’s crossed the floor.
Out of the three main parties, most people believe the PCs would fix health care, make life more affordable and reduce taxes.
But more people say the NDP would improve housing and reduce homelessness.
The race for second place is tight, with the NDP pushing the Liberals for opposition status.
Voting takes place until 8 p.m. and results can be found by clicking the link below after 9 p.m., as results will be delayed by one hour due to extended voting at a polling location in Eastern Shore.
