Pierre Poilievre’s first chance to topple the Trudeau government is expected to happen next week.
Media reports say the Conservatives’ first opposition motion day is set for Tuesday, with a vote tentatively scheduled for Wednesday.
The Conservatives have vowed to force a non-confidence vote “at the earliest possible opportunity” to try and trigger an early election.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh announced earlier in September that he was ending his supply-and-confidence deal with the Liberals.
The deal was put in place to support Trudeau’s minority government until 2025, as long as they helped push through several policies.
Singh said he is ready for a federal election but is not committing to a specific timeline.
He told reporters that any motion that comes before the House of Commons that could trigger an election will be reviewed.
It is unclear if the other parties would join in Poilievre’s push for an early election.
