A Cogmagun, N.S., man was hospitalized after a crash involving an allegedly impaired driver on Monday.
Just after 2 p.m., RCMP, fire and emergency services responded to a crash on Walton Woods Road, according to a news release from RCMP.
Police say a grey Ford Ranger, travelling west, drove off the road and into a ditch.
The driver ran from the scene of the crash, police say, and officers later found him at a nearby residence.
The passenger in the Ford, a 48-year-old man from Cogmagun, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.
The driver, a 60-year-old man from Cogmagun, suffered minor injuries.
Police say the driver “showed signs of impairment.” Based on evidence at the scene of the crash, officers arrested him.
Police say he provided two breath samples at the Enfield RCMP Detachment. Both registered at 110mg per cent.
The man faces charges for:
- causing bodily harm by operating a vehicle while impaired
- operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration that exceeds 80mg per cent
- failing to stop after a crash that resulted in bodily harm
The driver was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court in June.
The investigation continues.
