The Nova Scotia Legislature is back in session this week.
Liberal opposition leader Zach Churchill says he’ll be focused on making things more affordable.
“We are bringing forward legislation that will keep more money in people’s pockets, to follow through on our commitment to cut the HST by two points, and also index income tax to inflation,” said Churchill.
He says everyone is falling behind financially, and he wants to see items in the budget to address affordability and the housing crisis.
Churchill also shared his thoughts on MLA Brendan Maguire crossing the floor to become Tim Houston’s new community services minister.
“I’m hurt, our team is hurt. Brendan has been a part of our team for 10 years now. I know his values don’t align with the Premier. He’s been one of the fiercest critics of Tim Houston.”
However, Churchill hopes Maguire can have a positive impact in his new role, and reverse the trend of the affordability crisis.
