City staff worked quickly to clean up the new historical panels in Africville Park after they were marked up sometime last week.
Halifax-Needham MLA Lisa Roberts drew attention to the vandalism after it happened on social media on Saturday.
A spokesperson with HRM tells our newsrooms one panel was scribbled over in blue chalk and the markings were successfully removed the same day.
Five steel panels were installed in the park recently as part of an interpretive project, to show the history, families, and daily lives of the former residents of Africville.
