Applications are now open for government agencies, boards, and commissions, offering Nova Scotians an opportunity to make an impact in areas like healthcare, education, the environment, policing, and culture.
“Nova Scotians can help shape their communities and make impactful changes by joining an agency board or commission.” says Pat Dunn Minister responsible for the voluntary sector. “Volunteers are at the heart of our provinces growth and development. They bring in new ideas and create new possibilities for everyone.”
There are more than 180 agencies, boards, and commissions in the province created to provide advice and support in specific areas. Applications are considered based on skills and qualifications. In order to increase diversity, applications are encouraged from youth, woman, Mi’Kmaq and other indigenous people, African Nova Scotians and other racially visible people, people with disabilities, immigrants, members of the 2SLGBTIQA+ community, and Acadian Nova Scotians.
The deadline to apply is November 22nd and more information on these agencies and applications is available here: Applying for Agencies, Boards and Commissions (ABCs) | novascotia.ca
