A state of emergency has now been declared in the regions of our province hardest hit by Fiona.
The province says the move is being made to help ensure the lights get turned back on for all Nova Scotians.
The emergency order will apply to the hardest hit regions like Inverness, Antigonish, Guysborough, and Richmond Counties.
A request has also been made for additional support from the Canadian Armed Forces.
They’ll help power crews with road work, including flagging and signage.
The emergency order helps to pave the way for that assistance.
Around 7,000 Nova Scotia Power customers are now well into their second week of dealing with no electricity.
A state of emergency remains in effect for 14 days unless the government terminates or extends it.
