It’s a Friday, there’s clouds in the sky and you’re wondering to yourself where can I go and what can I do over the next 72 hours?
Well, we have a plethora of options for you for this – the final weekend break of August.
#5 – Hit a splash pad
There are plenty of awesome splash pad’s throughout the HRM. You’ve got a gem in Cole Harbour near the outdoor pool. There’s a new one near the Dartmouth Commons called Shirley’s Splash Pad. Wolfville has a pair of gems in the valley. There’s Bedford Memorial Park, Brooklawn Park, the Sackville Splash Park is another beauty. You know what, you should probably just Google a splash pad near you. That’d make things easier.
#4 – Play frolf in Dartmouth
Frolf stands for Frisbee Golf by the way and the city of Dartmouth is testing out a pilot project where you can try out a FREE disc golf workshop. You can then test your arm, accuracy and disc with a round right in the heart of the city.
#3 – Hit the beach
There are plenty of fantastic options regardless of where you are in the HRM (or province). You can hit one of our hundreds of lakes, but of course you could also go straight to the source too. Martinique is always a great call. You’ve always got the Rainbow Haven option as well…along with about 1,000 other choices.
#2 – April Wine
The legendary Canadian rock icons return to Nova Scotia and will play Alderney Landing in Dartmouth on Saturday night. DeeDee Austin and Jody Upshaw will open for the band with doors opening for this free ticketed event at 5pm. Park yourself on the landing then for the night as well because the concerts are just the tip of the iceberg…
#1 – Fireworks in Halifax Harbour
The HRM will be lit up Saturday night by its largest fireworks display since 2017. The show starts right after the concerts conclude in Dartmouth at 10pm on the nose and the beauty of the display is that you can plot yourself down pretty much anywhere around the harbour to take it all in.
Have a great weekend!
