Ever wanted to hit the beach without having to cruise in the car on a road trip.
It appears you’re not alone it was on the wishlist of many surveyed on what they would like to see on the Halifax Waterfront.
Develop Nova Scotia has released a new document proposing to build a raised man-made beach there.
“Many people desire a ‘beach experience,’ but Halifax’s closest beaches are too far away, and inaccessible by transit,” the proposal states. “An opportunity to interact with the harbour would provide a new and unique experience on the waterfront, while connecting people to the marine environment. Water quality testing is essential and should be implemented early.”
It would be nestled between the Nova Scotia Power Building and Bishop’s Landing on Lower Water Street.
Plans could change as the project is set to move through a more thorough design phase.
Develop Nova Scotia is accepting proposals from contractors until September 1st.
