This otherworldly feature is due to arrive with the next update.
Amazon said this will help ease the pain of loss and allow memories to go on forever.
To make this feature work it requires only a minute of recorded audio to be fed into the system. The artificial intelligence uses that audio to construct a whole voice.
During the announcement of this creepy add on Amazon showed a child asking Alexa to have their grandmother read to them. The device then started reading in a smooth, less robotic voice.
This feel too much like a Black Mirror episode to me!
