Pearl Jam, in need of a drummer, continue to find special guests to sit behind the kit.
Their regular drummer, Matt Cameron is current out with COVID, but the shows must go on.
The latest special guest was an 18-year-old high school student, Kai Neukermans.
Kai plays in a band called, The Alive. He has some experience with big gigs as The Alive have played the BottleRock Festival, and Lollapalooza in Chile.
If you’re wondering how he landed the gig, it is an interesting tale. Kai met Olivia Vedder, Eddie’s daughter in 2018, at the Ohana Fest, the festival which was founded by the legendary singer. Friends and Family encouraged him to reach out to Olivia when they heard the Matt Cameron was out.
Pearl Jam asked to see a video of him playing. So, he skipped some classes, including a test, to go shoot some video. After the band saw he had some chops, they gave him the gig.
