Although Judd is ready to direct again, the actors are a little hesitant and rightfully so.
Generally, when a blockbuster comedy comes out with a sequel, the second rendition never lives up to the hype.
Case and point: Anchorman 2, Zoolander 2, Dumb and Dumber 2, The Mask 2, Speed 2 (we know Speed wasn’t a comedy – still a bomb though!)
The only comedy that somewhat escaped the narrative (in our view) was Ace Ventura 2.
Sequels, in this day and age, are just a bad idea in general because they’re constantly written trying to meet the tell a similar story. This is where Ace Ventura 2 prevailed a bit because they took the same character, but made an entirely different storyline with nothing to do with the first movie.
Speaking of which, another sequel that prevailed based on our guidelines, without a doubt was Home Alone 2.
