The iconic Canadian funny man says he’s “probably” retiring from Hollywood. This means we get to count down some of his finest work and that excites everyone.
We should warn you, this list is a little subjective, but we feel like these are probably consensus picks. Now, without further adieu, we present our Jim Carrey Top Ten.
#1 Dumb and Dumber

This without a doubt is the Farrelly brothers best movie and the tandem of Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are unreal. Word to the wise, don’t watch the sequel. You’ll thank us later.
#2 Ace Ventura
There are certainly parts of Ace Ventura that didn’t age well and are now considered politically incorrect, but his performance as the Pet Detective was a master class of comedic acting. This scene alone is Sully’s favourite.
#3 The Truman Show

He put on his serious pants for this one. He was comedic, but it was done in a very straight faced way. This movie will make you laugh, cry and cheer. He takes you on a ride of emotions in this late 90’s gem.
#4 Me, Myself and Irene
Hands down, Me, Myself and Irene is his most underrated movie. A pretty solid cast of talent who were each near the beginning of their dominance added to what was a beautiful performance of an array of Carrey characters.
#5 The Mask

This one may be debated a little. JC was great in this movie though and he completely transformed into the green masked gem of Edge City in absolute flawless fashion.
#6 Liar Liar

The haircut of Max the child didn’t age all that well. The long bowl cut. It didn’t take focus off of Jim Carrey’s great performance though of the lawyer that couldn’t lie.
#7 How The Grinch Stole Christmas
The Who’s were annoying in this movie. We can all agree on that. Jim Carrey up on Mt. Crumpet was a beauty though. Another thing we can all agree on!
#8 Ace Venutra – When Nature Calls
There are very few sequels that could even come close to living up to the original. Ace Ventura 2 is one of those sequels that almost equals the greatness of the first rendition.
#9 Bruce Almighty

A lot of people would say this is Jim Carrey’s last truly funny movie. It was written well. He was surrounded by other great actors. This one is also pretty underrated.
#10 The Cable Guy
This one is a cult classic – an acquired taste one might say – and if we left it out, we’d never hear the end of it.
So there’s our Top Ten. Should we add? Should we remove? What do you think? Shoot us a note any time online, social media or on text at 902-496-0105.
