A Friday storm isn’t a bad thing, it’s actually an opportunity for all of us (of age) to crack our favourite storm brews.
Now, we’ve talked Storm Chips quite a bit these past few weeks and with good reason. The weather that’s been sweeping through our province has been a little crazier than usual, but thankfully (for whatever reason) the Nor-Easter’s have been landing on weekends for the most part.
Once again, we’re in a Friday storm boat and to make it rock a little less, we need to have a full fridge…or would that make your evening sway even more? Well, either way. Let’s talk Storm Beers!
Now, we should mention, all of these labels are available at an NSLC near you – this isn’t a sponsored piece (believe me) – but we wanted to list beers that are available to everyone regardless of where you live in NS.
Now, without further adieu, here are Jeff, Amy and Sully of the Morning Surge’s go to brews when the weather gets messy.
Jeff – Wayfarer Hellene Blonde Ale
She’s a golden goddess that oozes easy drinking with a sharp crisp finish. The true beauty of the Hellene is that once one is gone, there’s no ick feeling and you’re ready for round two…three, four, five or six. Then at that point, Jeff usually starts bragging about how this is the Leafs year!
Amy – Garrison Juicy Double IPA

Neither Jeff nor Sully are big hoppy guys, but when it comes to sipping and slurring, nobody is more educated than our incredible co-host Amy. To her credit as well, we did test the IPA last night before writing this blog and the Juicy does stand up. It’s pretty dammed good!
Sully – Nine Locks Cream Ale
Yep, she’s a very underrated four-pack. It’s light. It goes down easy and you can drink a few of them without feeling the headaches or after effects in the morning. Sully is very wise, he’s a beautiful stallion of a man and he also just wrote this article.
