A chance to discuss who will oversee a very popular walking trail in HRM.
The B.L.T Rails to Trail has been around for 25 years, stretching for 13 kilometres through Beechville, Lakeside and Timberlea.
The group that took care of it, recently stepped away, so according to local bike shop Cyclesmith, a meeting with be held next week at the new BLT community centre with Councillor Janet Steele and MLA Iain Rankin on hand, to discuss the trail’s future.
A possible new board and association members will be picked.
It was on April 1, that the B.L.T. Rails to Trail Association officially handed the responsibility back to the province.
They made the announcement in November, explaining that overlooking the trail had become too much.
Andrew Feenstra, the owner of Cyclesmith, had been recently trying to get the word out that the trail needed new oversight. In an interview with our newsroom in March, he flagged the safety aspect and spoke about how often it is used.
If you would like to be part of the conversation, the meeting is on April 15 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
