A Quebec company is interested in offshore wind from Nova Scotia.
Hydro-Quebec is looking into timelines and costs associated with projects here.
They’ve issued a request for information on transmission of electricity from potential offshore wind farms.
Premier Tim Houston says he’s delighted by the news.
In a statement, he says a key focus of his ‘Wind West’ project is getting energy to market.
Houston says this strengthens the business case for projects, along with confidence that offshore wind can move forward.
He says Hydro-Quebec is one of the largest electricity systems in Canada, and they’ve been in conversation with the company for months.
