A community crisis service that is available 24/7, is expanding to different areas of HRM.
The city says CARE is now available in the north end of Halifax as well as on the Halifax waterfront.
It is a program that provides in-person support for those 16 years and older who are having a crisis related to substance use, public intoxication, suicidal thoughts, mental health distress or well-being.
It is for situations that are not an emergency or violent.
The service offers a space that is safe and trauma-informed, rather than calling people or other first responders that may not be a good fit.
In January, CARE moved to 24/7 service in the Woodlawn and Cole Harbour areas of Dartmouth.
