Five new members of the Order of Nova Scotia.
They include former NDP Premier Darrell Dexter and Dartmouth musician Joel Plaskett.
Halifax philanthropist John George Flemming, East Preston human rights advocate Carolyn G. Thomas and Cape Breton’s Rankin MacSween were also named.
The Order of Nova Scotia is the highest honour a citizen can receive, recognizing those who make lasting contributions.
A ceremony will be held in the Spring.
