A fatal assault in Beaver Bank Friday night has led to a second‑degree murder charge, according to the RCMP.
Officers and EHS were called to a home in the 2400 block of Beaver Bank Road around 8 p.m. for a report of an assault.
Police said they found a 28‑year‑old man with life‑threatening injuries. First aid was provided, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mounties arrested a 20‑year‑old man nearby shortly after arriving. Police said he has been charged with Murder (second degree).
The man remains in custody and will appear at Dartmouth Provincial Court on December 15.
The victim and the accused were known to each other, and investigators do not believe the incident was random, according to the RCMP.
The RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation with support from RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.
Police are asking anyone with information, including surveillance or dash‑cam footage from Beaver Bank Road on Friday night, to contact them at 902‑490‑5020.
