It was a successful trip to Boston for the mayor of Halifax.
The city says Andy Fillmore met with Mayor Michelle Wu and attended the Boston Common Tree Lighting.
The trip follows Wu’s visit to Nova Scotia last month where she not only attended the tree cutting ceremony in Lunenburg County but also a Remembrance Ceremony in Grand Parade.
“Halifax’s connection with Boston is rooted in shared history, integrated economies, and generations of people-to-people connections,” says Mayor Fillmore. “In a world where global challenges are increasingly dealt with at city halls, collaboration between local officials is more important than ever.”
In addition, Fillmore met with representatives from the Massachusettes Bay Transportation Authority as well as the Boston Water and Sewer Commission to discuss what Halifax can learn from Boston for transportation and urban planning.
Fillmore says strengthening cooperation with other cities attracts investment, grows innovation and gives us tools to address challenges in things like affordability and housing.
