You might have to boil your water after a main line burst on Waverley Road Saturday.
Halifax Water says they’ve issued a precautionary boil water order for the areas of Waverley Road, Spider Lake, Montague Road, Keystone Village, Port Wallace, Montebello, Craigwood Estates and Avenue du Portage.
But depending on what happened when the main burst, you will have different instructions.
If you noticed your water was affected after 1 p.m. Saturday and:
- you lost all water, boil it before use
- your water is discoloured, run the taps until it is clear and you will not need to boil it
- had normal or low pressure, no need to boil
- if you are unsure how your water service was affected, boil as a precaution
Halifax Water says to boil water for one minute before any human consumption, including brushing your teeth.
The city has set up a comfort centre for anyone who hasn’t had their water service restored.
You can head to the East Dartmouth Community Centre at 50 Caledonia Road from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The city will decide later on if they will open the comfort centre again on Monday.
If you need to use the washroom or shower, you can also head to these recreation facilities:
- Cole Harbour Place, 51 Forest Hills Parkway, Dartmouth, from 12 to 9 p.m.
- Zatzman Sportsplex, 110 Wyse Road, Dartmouth, from 12 to 10 p.m.
