The city is now starting to change where it shares information with residents on social media.
HRM is phasing out X and replacing it with Bluesky after Regional Council voted in favour of the switch earlier this year.
The city says, “This transition was informed by public feedback, trends in other jurisdictions and input from provincial and partner organizations.”
As of Wednesday, the municipality launched six new official accounts on Bluesky where you can share texts, pictures and videos.
- Main account: @hfxgov.bsky.social
- Halifax Transit: @hfxtransit.bsky.social
- Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency: @hfx-fire.bsky.social
- Halifax Events: @hfxevents.bsky.social
- Halifax Parks & Recreation: @hfxrec.bsky.social
- Halifax Planning & Development: @hfxplanning.bsky.social
You do not need an account, only internet access to view content.
Halifax Water, Halifax Regional Police and Halifax Public Libraries are not part of the transition.
Any X accounts used by HRM will be discontinued by July 14.
