Our province’s response to the trade war with the United States appears to be resonating with Nova Scotians.
Premier Tim Houston has seen his approval rating climb to 59 per cent, according to an Angus Reid survey.
That is up from 55 per cent just three months ago and is his highest approval rating in nearly three years.
Houston is also the fourth most popular premier, just behind New Brunswick’s Susan Holt, who has a 60 per cent approval rating.
Angus Reid said Nova Scotia has been at the forefront of efforts to reduce interprovincial trade barriers amid the U.S. trade war.
Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey is the most approved-of premier in the country at 68 per cent — a 22 percentage point increase from three months ago.
Furey recently announced his resignation as premier but will stay on until a new Liberal leader is chosen.
Manitoba’s Wab Kinew is in second place at 65 per cent, a drop of two percentage points from three months ago.
