Sixteen candidates are vying to be the next mayor of Halifax.
The nomination period closed on Tuesday, with some submitting their papers at the last minute.
The list, in alphabetical order, includes:

The front runners appear to be Pam Lovelace, Waye Mason, both current city councillors, and Andy Fillmore, who resigned from his position as a federal member of parliament to run for mayor.
Although a recent survey, which polled 500 residents of the Halifax Regional Municipality, found 52 per cent of those people were undecided on who they would vote for.
About six per cent of people surveyed had no preference for a certain candidate.
Andy Fillmore had 23 per cent of support, Waye Mason with 9 per cent, and Pam Lovelace at 4 per cent.
Mason and Lovelace will leave seats open in district 7 and 13 for new candidates.
Candidates running for city council
Residents will have to elect new representatives to replace Lindell Smith, Lisa Blackburn, and Tim Outhit, who represent district 8, 14, and 16.
However, district 9 councillor Shawn Cleary has changed his mind about running again.
Earlier this year he said he would not run but his name is on the list of nominees.
No one is running unopposed for any districts, and the candidates are as follows:

Tim Outhit, the current representative for the area, isn’t running again.
The election will happen in October, with advance online and telephone voting between the 8th and the 16th. Advance in-person voting happens on the 12th and 15th.
Election day, where you can vote in-person, is Oct. 19.
