Our Halifax Mooseheads start their 2023-24 season tonight at home against the Charlottetown Islanders.
Tonight’s game will be special because the team is honouring all time Memorial Cup winning Moosehead and local hockey legend Nathan MacKinnon.
The pride of Cole Harbour wore #22 for the Mooseheads during their 2013 Memorial Cup championship and before the game this evening, his number will be retired. MacKinnon would go on to be a star in the NHL with the Colorado Avalanche where he’d win a Stanley Cup in 2022.
Mooseheads also making some improvements to game day experience. Last season, new ownership took over the organization and one of their mandates was to spice up the concession offerings.
They promise new menu items and faster service. Though the press release didn’t actually say what those are. Their instagram is sadly missing the food influencer posts I’d need to truly get hyped.
They’ll have some more merch booths spread throughout the Scotiabank Centre. 50/50 will now be able to be purchased online so you can ge the tickets from your seat or even from home. And because getting up to walk grind it out in the concourse sucks during an energetic sequence of play, they promise more “hawkers” going up and down the aisles.
However, the greatest question was never answered; will there be diced onions for the hot dogs? Sort it out Mooseheads.
Puck drops on a new season tonight after 7PM and the CHL is bullish on the Mooseheads being a top tier team across the nation.
