The latest report on Canada’s premier approval ratings has been released, and Ontario’s Doug ford has reached the lowest percentage of his five years in office.
The study, done by the Angus Reid Institute, shows that ford is now tied with Manitoba’s Heather Stefanson for the lowest rating, at just 28 percent. Ford’s percentage dropped by five points since the last report came out in June, possibly due to backlash from the greenbelt scandal. For Stefanson, the report does not bode well for a Tory government in the midst of a provincial election campaign.
At the top of the list are Nova Scotian premier Tim Houston and Saskatchewan’s Scott Moe, however, both premiers have seen their ratings drop significantly since the last report. They each sit at 50 percent approval; however, Moe saw the steepest drop in percentage points since June’s report, falling by seven points. Houston meanwhile is tied with Ford for the second biggest decline, dropping five points since June.
Newfoundland and Labrador’s Andrew Furey, British Columbia’s, David Eby, Alberta’s Danielle Smith, and Quebec’s François Legault make up the middle of the rankings, each boasting ratings of just under 50 percent.
New Brunswick’s Blaine Higgs has managed to make up some ground, climbing by two percentage points, but still holds a low rating of just 30 percent.
