It was announced last week that Johnny Hardwick passes away at the age of 64. He was known for voicing the character of Dale Gribble on King of the Hill.
In a statement released by 20th Television Animation and Hulu they said “Hardwick was memorialized as “one of the animation greats” “Johnny Hardwick was an incredibly beloved member of the ‘King of the Hill’ family, whose tremendous talent, brilliant humor and friendship will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to work with him over the past 25 years.”
Back in January, Hulu announced a reboot of the show. So now that he has passed, what does that mean? Rumor is that he voiced a couple of episodes of the reboot but did not complete his voice work for the show’s revival before his death. No word whether they’ll use his new voice, mention his passing or even use AI to finish.
He’s not the only cast member to pass away. Brittany Murphy, who played Luanne, passed away in 2009 and Tom Petty, who played Lucky, Luanne’s husband passed away in 2017
Luckily, every season of King of the Hill is on Disney for you to binge or you can watch the best of Dale here!
