As grocery prices rise, so do the earnings for the heads of the companies.
UNIFOR crunched the numbers and said it would take a grocery store worker 340 years to earn what the head honchos make. Loblaw CEO Galen Weston netted 11.79 million dollars in 2022.
StatsCan says the average story employee makes $34,500 a year. While much less, Metro’s CEO was paid 5.3 million and Sobey’s paid 8.6 to its leader according to the large union.
Unifor represents 20 thousand retail workers in Canada and is asking the companies to be generous with their revenues and pass it along to their front-line workers.
