Alright, let’s count em down because there are some absolute gems to hit this weekend in and throughout the HRM.
HalCon
First and foremost, HalCon at the Convention Centre downtown is going to be off the charts! Last year, with covid restrictions in place, we were only allowed to have 5,000 people attend the convention. This year, the new cap has been pushed to 15,000 with many more currently on a wait list for tickets. It kicks of Friday and runs throughout the weekend at the Halifax Convention Centre.
House of Doom
Canon Beazley and his family have once again set up the Dartmouth Halloween staple – the House of Doom. You’ll find the massive Halloween setup at 153 Lindenwood Terrace just off Baker Dr. They have a new system in place where you can take a number before entering the house because the lineup is always so long.
The family goes all out for this, but their efforts don’t end there. The House of Doom is also a giant fundraiser for the IWK. Canon and his family exceeded their $15,000 goal last year and have already surpassed their $5,000 goal this time around.
Pooches and Pints
This Saturday from 12pm until 4pm, Spindrift Brewing in Burnside is hosting a costume contest for good dogs. So, while you sit there with your pint, you’ll get to also watch countless puppies put their wardrobe to the test. The event features $5 Toller Lagers, a Halloween photo booth and plenty of local pet supplier vendors on-location.
Halloween Trick or Treating
Last, but certainly not least, this Saturday will provide kids of all ages to throw on their best superhero costume (or you know, whatever) and head out on the street in search of your neighbourhoods best candy. Have fun, be safe and if you’re on the roads on Saturday night – please drive with caution.
Have a wonderful weekend everybody!
