More Nova Scotians can now book their fall booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The province says it has opened up appointments to anyone who is over the age of 18.
The Moderna bivalent vaccine is available.
Health officials recommend you get a bivalent vaccine as it offers protection against the original strain of the virus and Omicron variants.
“Late last week we opened up COVID-19 vaccine appointments to some of the most vulnerable Nova Scotians, and now we have capacity to offer appointments to those 18 and older,” Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says in a news release. “I encourage people to follow the National Advisory Committee on Immunization’s recommendation and book a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine for their next dose.”
For most Nova Scotians, the recommended interval between doses is about 5 months.
People who have become infected with the virus should wait 168 days from their infection before receiving their next dose.
